NBCUniversal — Creative & Content Teams

Sessions exploring narrative, perception, and storytelling across film and television.

Scent is used to articulate tone, emotional arc, and narrative tension — beyond verbal discussion.

Cultural & curatorial contexts

Sensory Language Sessions support museums, galleries, and cultural organisations exploring new approaches to interpretation, memory, and meaning.

In these environments, scent becomes a curatorial tool — opening non-verbal pathways for reflection
and audience engagement.

Sensory Language Sessions

Sensory Language Sessions are guided, experiential sessions using scent as a shared perceptual language.

Designed for teams and organisations, they support alignment, interpretation, and communication in complex or interdisciplinary environments.

They are not workshops in perfumery. Scent is used as a perceptual and interpretive tool — not a commercial outcome.

Participants work with curated accords and compositions, guided through structure, balance,
and dosage. Each session results in a scent shaped collectively — a tangible reference to the process.

How the sessions work

— Live, guided, embodied sessions
— Tailored to context and participants
— No prior scent knowledge required

What the sessions support

— Shared understanding beyond verbal language
— Alignment across disciplines and teams
— Nuanced communication and collective attention

Scent is used here as an environmental language — not a marketing device.

Session structure

Sessions are shaped by context, participants, and objectives — not a fixed programme.

They typically run from half-day to full-day formats and are delivered in person, on site or in a relevant environment.

Participants engage in guided sensory exploration and facilitated dialogue, and leave with a scent shaped during the session.

Marie authored and delivered an exceptionally thought-provoking and passionate half-day session, introducing my team of 30 creatives to the world of scent—and, fundamentally, how to smell. Through the lens of film and television, she guided us to view familiar titles from an entirely new perspective, exploring the scents they evoke and sharing her own interpretations. In both a theoretical and practical workshop, she opened all our eyes – and noses - to a whole new world.
